The Crown is located in the pretty village of Burston – made famous by the school strike of 1914–1939, the longest strike in English history.

The village is about 18 miles south of Norwich, off the A140 and 3 miles northeast of Diss. The nearest rail station is Diss with regular trains running from Norwich to London Liverpool Street.

Directions to the Crown

  • Take the A140 south towards Ipswich for approximately 15 miles. 2 miles after the Pulham roundabout turn right at the sign post to Burston and Shimpling. After 2 wiggly miles, the Burston Crown can be found on your right at the cross roads in the centre of the village.

  • Take the A14 west to Bury St Edmunds after approximately 8 miles turn north onto the A140. After about 15 miles and going straight over 3 roundabouts you will see a sign post on your left hand sign for Burston and Shimpling, turn left here. After 2 wiggly miles, the Burston Crown can be found on your right hand side at the cross roads in the centre of the village.

  • Take the A143 east towards Diss and Great Yarmouth. After approximately 18 miles, drive straight over at first round about and at the 2nd round turn left towards Norwich - joining the A140. Go straight over the next 2 roundabouts and about 400 yards after 2nd roundabout, turn left towards Burston and Shimpling. After 2 wiggly miles, the Burston Crown can be found on your hand side at the cross roads in the centre of the villlage.
